How to make a BitBag:
Cut your finished embroidery 5 inches wide by 20 inches long (you can cut it narrower if you want a narrower bag).
Put embroidery and lining right sides together and sew around the entire perimeter with a 1/4" seam allowance, leaving a 4-inch opening on one side.
Lay your cut embroidery on top of the lining fabric and cut the lining to be the same size as the embroidery.
Turn embroidery inside out through the opening, using a chopstick to gently turn corners. Press.
On each end, stitch a line 1/2 inch from the top edge and then another line 1/2 inch down from the first line. Do this on both ends. This will be your casing.
Now, fold bag in half and sew with an 1/8 inch seam allowance on each side, starting at the bottom edge of the casing and continuing to the fold.
Open up the casing by slitting the stitches in between the casing seam lines with a seam ripper.
Using some of your leftover embroidery floss, make two 18 inch braids and thread them through each side of the bag, one from one side and one from the other so that the bag will close snugly when the braids are pulled together.
Enjoy your beautiful little bag! You can use it for cosmetics, as a lavender sachet, to keep art supplies in, or as a bag for storing small items like jewelry or headphones when you travel. They also make excellent gifts.
