Following the 40 days of Lent in which Orthodox Christians abstain from meat and dairy, families bring a basket laden with meats, cheeses, and other "festal" foods to be blessed following the midnight Liturgy. This basket is traditionally covered with a white and red cloth as red is the color associated with this most important feastday.
This Pascha Basket cover design has an intricate double border which features alternating flowers worked in bright coral. The design can be worked with both borders as shown, or with simply the center border and cross for a simpler and faster project.

Note: while I like to have a full size photo on all of my patterns, I am still working the sample of this design. I have had numerous requests for designs suitable for Pascha basket covers, so I'm releasing this before I have a full size photo as that will give all you stitchers plenty of time to make this before Pascha!
