This 100 percent mercerized cotton, 30 count fabric (15 sts to the inch over two threads) is a finer version of the traditional groundcloth. It has a very soft hand, and is perfect for crisp, intricate stitch definition as well as drawn thread work.

Available in white or sacaree (the Greek for "raw sugar" color).

At 70 inches wide, it is very versatile and suitable for long table runners or even tablecloths.

What is mercerization?

Mercerization is a textile finishing treatment for cotton which improves dye uptake, reduces shrinkage, and gives the fabric a silk-like sheen. If you like to hand dye your fabric, it's great for that, too!
